9. Chicago Cubs (47-40) Last 10: 5-5

The Cubs lead by Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo in their offense are a legitimate playoff threat and are finally rising to the top after having one of the best farm systems in all of baseball over the years.

8. Minnesota Twins (49-40) Last 10: 7-3

Along with the Astros the Twins have been the surprise of baseball. The return of Tori Hunter has helped, and now Miguel Sano and Byron Buxton are in the majors.

7. New York Yankees (48-40) Last 10: 7-3

The Yankees lead by the surprise offensive resurgence of Alex Rodriguez are in first in the A.L. East . The question for this team is whether or not their starting staff will hold up.

6. Washington Nationals (48-39) Last 10: 5-5

Despite a great season Nats fans can’t be happy that Bryce Harper wasn’t in the home run derby, and Max Scherzer won’t be pitching in the National League.

5. Los Angeles Angels (48-40) Last 10: 7-3

The Angels rotation is staying afloat thanks to Andrew Heaney and Hector Santiago, and the Angels offense is heating up thanks to the power resurgence of Albert Pujols and Mike Trout.

4. Los Angeles Dodgers (51-39) Last 10: 6-4

Despite the struggles of Clayton Kershaw and Yasiel Puig, Kershaw still leads the majors in strikeouts, and Los Angeles has the best pitcher in all of baseball in Zach Grienke and his 1.39 ERA which is the lowest ERA after the first half since the mound was lowered.

3. Pittsburgh Pirates (53-35) Last 10: 8-2

The Pirates are rolling heading into the All Star Break and might be the team to beat in baseball going forward. They have won 13 of 16 and just won 3 of 4 over the Cardinals.

2. Kansas City Royals (52-34) Last 10: 8-2

The Royals are the only team in the A.L. with more than 50 wins and they have 6 all stars. Enough said.

1. St. Louis Cardinals (56-33) Last 10: 5-5

The Cardinals have shown that their human recently which makes you wonder how long they can hold their lead in the Central.
