The next run the rookie right-hander gives up will be his first one. You couldn’t have asked for a better debut from Godley, who threw six shutout innings after being in Single A ball as recently as mid-June. He gets the start on Tuesday night against the Mariners and should be helped by the fact that Safeco Field is known as a pitcher’s park. With the day off on Thursday, this will be Godley’s only start this week. If he can even come close to his performance from Thursday night, the D’backs will be hard-pressed to remove him from the rotation. Chase Anderson will be due to come off the disabled list by the middle of next week so Godley should get at least two turns to prove that he deserves to stay.
