Another rookie to keep an eye on is the D’backs’ right-fielder. While nothing to be alarmed at, Tomas has seen his batting average creep down in July from .319 at the beginning of the month to .301 today. The Major League season is a lot longer than any previous season Tomas has played in. With all outfielders healthy, manager Chip Hale can afford to give Tomas more days off particularly against tough right-handers such as Felix Hernandez whom the D’backs face on Wednesday. This has been a tremendous first season for Tomas and no matter what happens between now and September this was a wise investment by the front office.
