Diamondbacks Trade J.C. Ramirez to the Mariners

Today, the Arizona Diamondbacks traded RHP reliever J.C. Ramirez back to the Mariners for cash considerations as announced on the Mariners PR twitter account.

Ramirez appeared in just 12 games for the Diamondbacks recording a 4.11 ERA. The 26 year old appeared mostly for the Triple A Reno Aces posting a 2.88 ERA.

He spent the 2014 season in the Indians system and spent 2013 with the Phillies. He will report to Tacoma for the Mariners tomorrow.

Ramirez was originally signed as a international free agent out of Nicaragua in 2005, but he was sent to the Phillies in a deal that landed Seattle Cliff Lee.

Ramirez is 50-57 with a 4.19 ERA in 10 career minor league seasons. He made 18 major league starts in 2013 and posted a 7.50 ERA in 24 innings.

The Diamondbacks need more cash if their going to be active at the deadline. Plus, the Mariners are desperate for any bullpen help, and it appears that Arizona deemed Ramirez expendable.
