He was the #1 overall pick in the 2012 Draft as a 17-year old kid. Correa zoomed through the Houston system and was promoted to the Major League squad on June 8th. He has nothing to dispel the hype that he is a young Alex Rodriguez. Still only 20, Correa has nine home runs and 28 RBI’s in only 187 plate appearances. More than half of his 51 hits have been of the extra-base variety, hence the .538 slugging percentage. His play at shortstop has been equally spectacular. Had Correa been promoted sooner, there is no doubt he would be the front-runner for American League Rookie of the Year.
