Game 2: LHP Patrick Corbin (2-3 3.31 ERA) vs. RHP Max Scherzer (11-8 2.22 ERA) 4:05 P.M. MST

This is going to be a fun matchup. Patrick Corbin will be making his 6th start since missing 1 year and 3 months after undergoing Tommy John Surgery.

Corbin has been pitching like the ace that we saw in 2013 recently. In his last 2 starts he has allowed 2 runs in 13 innings and he struck out 16.

Corbin features a fastball, slider, sinker, and changueup. He relies on his slider and its 12 to 6 movement as his out pitch. He generates a lot of swings and misses and groundballs with his fastball.

Jayson Werth has feasted on Dbacks pitching, and in 5 AB vs. Corbin he is hitting .400 with 1 HR and 3 RBI’s. He has made 3 starts against the Nationals and he is 1-1 with a 4.26 ERA.

One of the best pitchers in all of baseball, Max Scherzer makes the start. The Dbacks probably still wish they had him. Scherzer threw 7 shutout innings last time out, and already has a no hitter this season.

Scherzer features a fastball, slider, cutter, curveball, and a changeup.

He is 2-0 with a 1.29 ERA in 14 innings against the club that drafted him. Jarod Saltalamacchia is hitting .333 in 9 at bats with 1 HR and 2 RBI’s against Scherzer.
