Checking In On the Dbacks Top 5 Prospects: Dansby Swanson Debuts

No.4 Prospect: Brandon Drury-2B/3B
When I read MLB.com’s top 30 Diamondbacks prospects update for the midseason, I was suprised to see Brandon Drury ranked no.7.
He is in the top 10, but that is to low for Drury who has just torn up the upper levels of the minors, and should be on his way to Arizona soon.
In 67 games with Mobile, Drury hit .278 with 3 HR, 36 RBI and 14 2B’s before being promoted to Reno on June 24th.
On July 30th he broke out for the Aces going 5-5 and slugging his 1st home run for Reno.
In 67 games with the Aces, he is hitting at a .322 clip with 1 HR and 16 RBI.
His power numbers are down from previous years, but he continues to hit on a consistent basis against the best pitchers the minors has to offer.
Drury was drafted as a 3rd basemen, but he has seen a lot of time at 2nd this season. With Jake Lamb ahead of him at the hot corner and playing well for the Dbacks, 2nd base will be his best ticket to the majors.
Aaron Hill will likely not be a Diamondback in 2016, and Drury will get the oppurtunity to win the starting job. We will likely see him in September.
