On the pitching side, it is the rookie left-hander that has been on fire. Chafin has been unscored upon over his last 17 2/3 innings pitched, a span covering 16 games. Opponents are hitting a paltry .114 off Chafin since the All-Star Break and for the season he has allowed only 45 hits in 60 2/3 innings. His ERA is sits at 2.37 in 48 games, second best among the team’s relievers after Brad Ziegler‘s 1.61. With 20 games in 20 days, expect to see a lot of Chafin over the next two and a half weeks.
