Beef was sizzling for a while but now has seemed to fizzle a bit. He is 0 for 12 in his last three games and has two hits in his last 20 at-bats, a span covering five games. This has been the biggest slump of Castillo’s brief D’backs’ career but it is way too early to be thinking about a straight platoon with Jarrod Saltalamacchia. Though Salty has been pretty good as of late with four hits in his last 15 at-bats, Castillo has been the much better player over the last 75 days. After facing Gerrit Cole tonight, the pitching opponents the rest of the week should be able to help Castillo snap out of his slide.
