Game 3: RHP Randall Delgado vs. RHP Anthony DeSclafani (7-8 3.72 ERA) 4:10 P.M. MST

Randall Delgado will be making his first start for the Diamondbacks since September 11th 2014 when he pitched just four innings allowing three runs on seven hits.

Delgado was placed in the rotation after the Diamondbacks placed Jeremy Hellickson on the 15 Day D.L. today. Many Diamondbacks fans including myself are wondering why he is starting because Delgado hasn’t thrown more than 3 innings since his last career start, and he didn’t do a great job in that role.

Aaron Blair and Andrew Chafin would have been better options to start that game as I noted in my editorial piece earlier today.

DeSclafani took the hard luck loss in his last start against the Dodgers losing 2-1 last Sunday. Only five of his 14 starts are quality this season. He faced the Diamondbacks earlier this month giving up 10 hits and 3 runs in 6.0 innings.

Paul Goldschmidt is hitting 1.000 in three at bats against DeSclafani, Ender Inciarte is hitting .333, and so are Nick Ahmed, A.J. Pollock, and Jarrod Saltalamacchia.
