Hot: Chris Owings

Last 10 Games: 36 PA, .353/.389/.529, 12 H, 3 2B, 5 RBI, 4 RS

Chris Owings isn’t used to struggling at the plate. A shoulder injury and the surgery that came with it cut short his 2014 season, and he really hasn’t been the same hitter.

Before he injured his shoulder, Owings was a .280 hitter in the big leagues with a .766 OPS in 92 games.

Since he has come back in 127 games his average is just .232 and his OPS is below .600 at .590.

However, in the first three games against the Reds he collected eight hits, and despite going 0-for-5 on Sunday, he has quietly gotten his OPS above .600 at .617 for the year and he has really turned his season around at the plate.

His last 10 games have been great, but Owings has also had a great month of August hitting .292 with seven doubles and 10 RBI’s in 68 plate appearances. He has played in every game since August 17th.

Hopefully CO can continue his hot hitting and be the great hitter that we all know Owings is.
