Addison Reed: Hot
Last 9 Appearances: 11.2 IP, 0.00 ERA, 10 H, 9 SO, 1 BB
I cant believe I’m saying this, but Addison Reed has been on a roll in the Diamondbacks bullpen since coming back up from the minors.
Since July 31st, Reed hasn’t given up any runs, and he hasn’t allowed any home runs striking out 6.94 batters per nine innings with a 48.5 GB%.
It’s amazing how Reed has turned his season around.
On May 15th, his ERA was sitting at 7.20, and he was removed from the closers role.
On June 22nd, Reed was demoted to Triple-A Reno having complied a 5.92 ERA to that point in the year.
Whatever Reed did in the minors is working, and he has continued that with the D-backs pitching regularly in pressure situations and getting big outs.
Reed retired all four of the batters he faced today in the 7th and 8th inning going 1 1/3 innings and helped preserve yet another Snakes win.
As I have said before, maybe the pressure of closing is to much for Reed even though that is ultimately what he wants to do.
He has been much better as a late inning reliever before giving way to Brad Ziegler in the 9th when the D-backs are ahead in a close game.
Reed has lowered his ERA for the year to 4.03, and hopefully he can continue to pitch well and give the D-backs scoreless and quick innings.
