One of the things I couldn’t stand about Kirk Gibson‘s use of the lineup is that he would frequently use the backup catcher as a pinch-hitter then take him out of the game. With Oscar Hernandez required to be in the Majors, Chip Hale has the luxury of using Salty as the big bat off the bench. His batting average is finally at the .200 mark and he has hit in six of his last nine games.
