The National League’s Pitcher of the Month capped off his August by no-hitting the Los Angeles Dodgers in his last start. He went 6-0 with a 0.43 ERA for the month, lowering his ERA to 2.11, second behind Zack Greinke‘s 1.59. His 17 wins are tops in all of baseball and he must now be considered as one of the favorites for the Cy Young Award. Arrieta received a no-decision vs. the D-backs on May 23rd as he allowed a season-high six runs (three earned) in six innings as the Cubs prevailed by a score of 9-6. He came to the Cubs on July 2nd, 2013 along with Pedro Strop for Scott Feldman and Steve Clevenger, one of President of Baasball Operations Theo Epstein’s best deals to date.
