Jake Barrett, a possible option for bullpen depth in 2016 has to be protected. He has been one of the top relief arms in the D-backs’ system for years, and with his stuff has a chance to be dominant in the Snakes bullpen for years.
This team is not about to let Gabriel Guerrero, Miller Diaz, or Matt Koch go because Dave Stewart just traded for them this season.
Evan Marzilli was inconsistent this season hitting .300 for Reno in 9 games, going to Mobile and hitting under .250 before being demoted to the AZL where he hit .400. Despite this, his numbers at Triple-A proves that he has the talent and the drive to play at the highest level. The organization values him and that is enough to protect him.
Zach Borenstein, Kaleb Fleck, and John Omahen are other names I see the D-backs protecting.
I could easily see the rest of the names on the list not be protected.
