Tale of the Tape

RecordYankees (16-20), Diamondbacks (17-22)

Offense: Yankees (.235/.305/.378, 12th in the AL in runs), Diamondbacks (.266/.323/.446, 5th in the NL in runs)

Pitching: Yankees (4.34 ERA), Diamondbacks (4.63 ERA)

On the mound, both the Yankees and Diamondbacks have had disappointing seasons so far. Two of the Yankees’ starters, Luis Severino and CC Sabathia, are injured. Michael Pineda is 1-4 with a 6.28 ERA, and Masahiro Tanaka doesn’t get much run support.

But things aren’t much better in the Southwest. Zack Greinke and Shelby Miller are a combined 4-7 with a 5.95 ERA. What this series will come down to is the offense, and that’s where the Diamondbacks have been effective this season. If they can get a decent amount of runs early–which shouldn’t be too hard–things will look good.
