Pitching Matchups:

Friday: Christian Friedrich (0-1, 2.89 ERA) vs. Robbie Ray (2-3, 4.18 ERA)

Saturday: Cesar Vargas (0-2, 3.34 ERA) vs. Zack Greinke (5-3, 4.59 ERA)

Sunday: Drew Pomeranz (4-4, 1.70 ERA) vs. TBA (1-6, 7.09 ERA)

The highlight—or lowlight—of this series would have been Shelby Miller’s start on Sunday. But now that he’s on the DL, there’s no telling who will make that start. It could be top-prospect Archie Bradley, who has shined in Triple-A.

Pomeranz has been a surprise this year; his 1.70 ERA is the third-lowest any Padre has ever recorded through nine starts.

Greinke has done well as of late, with a 3-1 record and a 3.18 ERA over his last six starts. His opponent, Cesar Vargas, has done well over just six big-league starts.

And tonight, we’ll see Robbie Ray take on Christian Fredrich. Ray will need to keep his pitch count down if he wants to win tonight.
