Arizona Diamondbacks Minor League Monday: Playoff Push

Class A Short Season: Hillsboro Hops
Hillsboro went five and two last week and was only one game off the pace set by the Reno Aces. Even though the team already has a playoff spot locked up with the first half win the Hops have a two-game lead in the Division. Thanks to this full season consistency the team may just end up with the best over all record as well.
On Thursday, the Hops played the Boise Hawks and won 9-1 at home. This victory as do most games in my eyes came down to starting pitching. Starter Tyler Vail went seven scoreless innings and gave up only three hits and had eight strike outs. In the seventh inning Hops catcher, Varsho extended the lead to 3-0 with a two-run home run.

Final thoughts
Four of the teams covered here are making a playoff push with three division leaders. This is a group of teams playing their best baseball when it matters the most to try and bring home titles for their teams. For people not expected to set the world on fire they are certainly doing just that.
