In the series and road trip finale, the Diamondbacks will send Taijuan Walker (8-7, 3.42 ERA) to the mound. Hopefully the same Walker that pitched a gem in Colorado Friday shows up Wednesday in Los Angeles.
Walker lasted only five innings, but became just the third pitcher in franchise history to strike out 10 batters in that time frame. I would say that is pretty good. The right hander is at his best when he stays aggressive with his fastball and features a nasty curveball. I am sure everybody would love for him to complete at least six innings, but Walker needs to be himself on the mound.
In one start at Dodger Stadium this season, Walker struck out seven, walked one and gave up one run in five innings.
The Dodgers will counter with Kenta Maeda (12-6, 4.19 ERA). The right hander got through just three innings in Phoenix last week. Look for Lamb to have a big series, Besides good numbers against Hill, Lambo is a career .375 hitter off Maeda with two long balls and six RBI in 24 at-bats.
After taxing their bullpen this weekend, it will be interesting to see if the Diamondbacks add a fresh arm before Monday’s game.
