Game 4: Zack Godley (7-7, 3.18 ERA) vs. Chad Bettis (1-2, 4.98 ERA)
The Diamondbacks wasted possibly Zack Godley’s best outing of the season. The right hander pitched seven innings and struck out nine. In addition, he retired 16-straight Padres at one point. But a six-run ninth inning spoiled the day, and Godley was stuck with a no decision.
In two starts against Colorado this season, Godley is 2-0 with a 2.77 ERA. Blackmon is hitting .500 in his career off Godley with one home run and two RBI in four at-bats.
Despite allowing four runs (three earned) in five innings, Chad Bettis earned his first win since returning from a battle with testicular cancer. The right hander struck out five against the Dodgers on Saturday.
In nine career games (six starts) against Arizona, Bettis owns a 7.30 ERA. In four games (three starts) at Chase Field, he has a 4.42 career ERA and a 1-1 record across 18.1 innings.
Paul Goldschmidt is a career .368 hitter against Bettis with a home run and seven RBI. Chris Herrmann owns a .444 average in nine career at-bats with four RBI.
Series Prediction: I like the pitching matchups for Arizona. I think Arizona claims three of four with their only loss coming in game two.
