Game 1: Zack Greinke vs. Adam Conley
Greinke was true to his Cy Young-candidacy form in his last start in San Francisco. However, the Diamondbacks have gotten the better of Madison Bumgarner more than once this year.
Greinke’s start was no different as he pitched eight innings of scoreless baseball and only allowed two hits. His fantastic performance on the mound also gave the bullpen the night off. He will look to continue that success against the Marlins.
Unfortunately, the Marlins have a hot-hitting Giancarlo Stanton…maybe you’ve heard of him? Stanton has trotted around the bases 56 times in 2017. It won’t be easy to silence him, but if anyone can do it, it’s Zack Greinke and his 208 strikeouts.
The offense will be facing a struggling Adam Conley. Conley has a 5.96 ERA in his last five starts.
Giancarlo Stanton and Dee Gordon are the only batters on either side with significant experience against the starting pitcher. In 11 and 13 at-bats, respectively, they are batting .273 and .154 against Greinke.
