Game 2: Taijuan Walker vs Jakob Junis
Taijuan Walker will head to the mound for the second game at Kauffman Stadium. Walker isn’t coming off of a hot start.
In his last outing, Walker gave up seven runs, only three earned, but his errors led to two of those unearned runs. He will be looking to get back on track and prove himself worthy of the postseason.
Walker faces the Royals’ Jakob Junis. Junis is 8-3 this season, with a 4.39 ERA. His last start was a laser show for the New York Yankees who scored six runs on seven hits against Junis in less than six innings.
If Walker comes out on top, it will be his 10th win of the season. His season high is 11, which he will fall just short of.
There isn’t much experience on either side of the offense. Royals’ Melky Cabrera has four hits in 10 at-bats against Walker with 1 RBI, but that’s it.
However, if Walker struggles at all, manager Torey Lovullo announced that both Zack Godley and Patrick Corbin will be available out of the bullpen.
