Perhaps the most surprising person on this list is the veteran catcher Chris Iannetta.

Iannetta joined the Diamondbacks from the Seattle Mariners and has been part of the success through pitcher-catcher matchups in the clubhouse.

But, more importantly, Iannetta batted .302 in 19 games in September, including four home runs and 11 RBI’s.

The lineup isn’t out yet, but it’s looking like Jeff Mathis might get the start in the Wild Card game. But, it’ll be a tough call to make with Iannetta coming out of the regular season with a hot bat and handling Zack Greinke’s pitches so well.

The roster hasn’t been announced yet, let alone the lineup, so Iannetta’s status for Wednesday’s game is up in the air.
