The Arizona Diamondbacks are close to trading left-hander Wade Miley to an unnamed team according to a report by Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports.

The market has really picked up on Miley in recent days, especially after Jon Lester signed with the Chicago Cubs.

The Boston Red Sox, Texas Rangers, and Miami Marlins have shown interest in him. The Marlins have been interested since the beginning of the off-season.

The Diamondbacks can use his high demand as leverage to improve this team.

If its the Red Sox, maybe the Dbacks could start with catcher Christian Vasquez, or left-hander Henry Owens. Catcher Blake Swihart could be another option.

Miley was a first round pick by the Snakes in the 2008 First Year Player Draft. Overall he has gone 38-35 with a 3.79 era in his career.

He has thrown at least 194 innings in each of the last three seasons including 201.1 innings pitched in 2014. He is very durable, and he is under team control for the next three seasons.

He struck out a career 8.4 batters per nine innings in 2014, but his era jumped to 4.34 in 2014 after posting era’s of 3.33, and 3.54 in 2012 and 2013 respectively.

Miley was supposed to be a lock for the Diamondbacks 2015 rotation along with Josh Collmenter, but it looks like things have changed.

The Diamondbacks cant keep getting low level prospects, especially for Miley who is only 28, and has been a consistent performer for this team.

If they do trade him, they need to get major league, or major league ready pitching, and if they can get a catcher that would be nice.
