Luis Gonzalez Wins Celebrity/Legends Softball Game MVP

Former Arizona Diamondbacks left fielder and current front office man Luis Gonzalez started his afternoon coaching the World Team in the 2011 MLB Futures Game.  He finished off the evening by participating in the 2011 Celebrity/Legends Softball Game and winning the MVP by hitting a solo home run.

With the likes of Nick Jonas, Jennie Finch, Rollie Fingers, Rickey Henderson, Larry Fitzgerald, James Denton, Matt Williams, Mark Grace, amongst many others playing in the game, it was a game in doubt for the National League, falling behind early 3-0.  However Gonzo’s bat got things started.  Then he added a homer later to help put the game away, leading the NL to a win over the American League 5-3.

So, Gonzo actually takes home an MVP from a “friendly” game.  MaT. Williams showed up to the game late because the Dbacks just got back into town from St. Louis.  He immediately came in and got a hit.  Some guys looked like it had been awhile for them and some others looked like they hadn’t lost a beat.  It was all for fun though.
