11/4 Diamondbacks AFL Report
The Salt River Rafters, featuring seven members of the Arizona Diamondbacks are now 11-10, only a game and a half behind the first place Mesa Solar Sox in the Arizona Fall League. You will get the chance to see the Rafters in action on Tuesday night, November 5th, when they take on Mesa at 9 PM EST, 7 PM MST live on MLB Network. Here is this week’s AFL report.

Nick Ahmed: The shortstop is making steady progress at the plate. This past week, Ahmed hit in two of his three games and scored two runs. In 34 at-bats, his slash line is now .265/.375/.382 with one home run and three RBI’s with seven runs scored.
Jake Barrett: He was selected to play in the AFL Fall Stars Game and managed to throw one inning. Unfortunately, he surrendered a two run home run to Garin Cecchini from the Red Sox organization. The righty’s last appearance came on the day before Halloween when he was shelled for four runs on three hits in a third of an inning. In 5 2/3 innings, Barrett has given up ficve runs on six hits, walking six and striking out five. Of coruse, that line is skewed by that one game.
Mike Freeman: Second baseman Freeman had a hot week of hitting. He came to the plate eleven times and banged out five hits with a three RBI effort that came on November 1st. On the season, Freeman has 35 at-bats and has driven in seven runs with an impressive slash line of .314/.405/.371 and four stolen four bases.
Henry Garcia: The lefty made one appearance last week and it was a rough one. He lasted only a third of an inning giving up a three run homer resulting in Garcia taking the loss in a 12-6 defeat to the Surprise Saguaros. He has pitched a total of three innings with the only damage being that one home run.
Jake Lamb: The third baseman was another guy who had an excellent week with the bat. In two games, Lamb had four hits in nine at-bats with two runs scored, a double and an RBI. Lamb owns a terrific line of .325/.386/.400 with 13 hits, seven runs scored and three RBI’s.
Bo Schultz: He continues to be one of the AFL’s most impressive pitchers. Schultz got the win on November 1st by going five innings and allowing two runs on five hits, walking three and striking out two. He continues to lead the league in innings pitched with 23 1/3 and strikeouts with 22. Schultz is 2-0 with a glittering 1.93 ERA in five games.
Matt Stites: The righty pitched two scoreless innings last week and has not allowed a run over his last six appearances. Stites was also selected for the Fall Stars Game but did not make it into the game. In 7 1/3 innings, Stites has allowed four runs on seven hits, walking three and striking out six.
