After losing both games to the Los Angeles Dodgers in Sydney, the Arizona Diamondbacks had a rough opening week at Chase Field losing 3 of 4 to the San Francisco Giants that featured two blown saves, and a lot of occurrences that reminded Snakes fans to much of 2013. While the D’backs are 1-5 to start the season, the great thing about baseball is its a long season.

There are still 156 games to turn it around. The offense with the exception of the game against Tim Hudson, has looked great and the team is getting quality production from the top and bottom of the lineup. The acquisition of Mark Trumbo is looking like a great pickup. So far this season he is hitting .280 with 2 HR and 8 driven in. Paul Goldschmidt is off to a fast start batting over .400. He currently owns the second longest hitting streak in D’backs history dating back to 2013 at 25 games.

Chris Owings is on a tear through the first 6 games hitting .444 with 8 hits in 18 at bats. So far, the decision to start him at SS over Didi Gregorius looks like the right decision. As you can see, even though the team is on a losing streak to start the year, there is still some good news to talk about. The D’backs start there first road trip stateside against division rival Colorado at Coors Field. First things first: the Snakes have to get the win today and then hope to get a series win to shift the mood of the team. There is no doubt that this road trip through Denver and San Francisco is important.
