Today is one of the greatest days of the Major League baseball season. All across the MLB, April 15th 2014 is Jackie Robinson Day: the day we honor the legacy of Jackie Robinson on and off the field, and the legacy that he created for himself, the game of baseball, and the history of civil rights. Robinson changed the game forever when he signed a contract with the Brooklyn Dodgers becoming the first African American player to play in the major leagues and he opened the door for other black athletes and African American rights in general. For one day, all of the players will be wearing no.42. The Dbacks lost yesterday 7-3 against the Mets and the pitching was once again horrible. The Mets who hit below .218 as a team coming into the game, had 13 hits against Dbacks pitching. Josh Collmenter made his return to the rotation and labored through four innings allowing 3 runs. Michael Bolsinger made his major league debut allowing two runs. He is in the rotation and will start for the Dbacks against the Dodgers in L.A on Saturday. Mets starter Zach Wheeler was impressive for the Mets. The Dbacks took a 1-0 lead in the first on a Miguel Montero RBI double but once again the Dbacks pitching couldn’t hold a lead. Here is all the need to know info for today’s game on Jackie Robinson Day:

Need to Know: Arroyo earned his first victory as a Diamondback giving up 3 runs over 5 innings on Wednesday at San Francisco…He received an extra day of rest because of Josh Collmenter’s return to the rotation…When the Dbacks acquired him, he was supposed to eat innings and that is what he has to do today…He is 8-3 with a 3.63 era in his career against the Mets…Mejia has had high pitch counts in his first two starts of 98 and 101 both Mets wins…He has never faced the Diamondbacks and the only guy in the lineup that has any experience off him is Martin Prado who has four AB’s against him.
