The Diamondbacks farm system has been busy with news in the past few weeks. Combine all the moves and promotions that have been made by the front office, and of coruse the story of Jon Griffen which has taken baseball by storm, there is alot to catch up on when it comes to all the Snakes minor league affilitates. Here is all the need to know info:

Triple A Reno: After losing the starting shortstop job to Chris Owings this spring, Didi Gregorius has been splitting time between second base and shortstop this season with the Aces and has done very well in the field at both positions and at the plate. Despite an 0 for 5 performance on Wednesday, he was still hitting .295 with a .381 OBP and a .443 sluggling percentage. In my opinion, Didi has the chance to play with Owings in the same infield by next season, something Tom Lynch talked about recently. 1B/3B Nick Evans is putting up big numbers hitting .358.

Double A Mobile: Of course the big story around the Bay Bears this week has been the amazing performance over two games by 1B Jon Griffen. If the Dbacks front office wasn’t paying attention to him before they are now. In 4 straight AB’s on Wednesday night against the Tennessee Smokies he hit 4 homers and then in his first at bat the next day hit another home run. His 4 homer game was only the 2nd in Southern League history. Recently LHP Andrew Chafin was promoted to Reno. Chafin threw 55 innnings for the baybears with a 1.96 era. RHP A.J Schugel is also pitching really well, he has a 3.35 era in 45 and two thirds innings.

High A Visalia: CF Evan Marzilli doesn’t have the best batting avearge on the team but he has a .378 on base and he has walked 26 times. Brandon Dury still leads the team with 9 HR’s and 35 RBI’s. He was a piece the Dbacks got in the Upton trade.

Low A South Bend: SS Andrew Velazquez has a .415 average with 3 doubles, four triples, and a home run in his past 10 games. He now has  a .285 avearge on the season. Skylar Trahan has 4 home runs and 26 RBI’s but he also has a .199 average.
