Each year, the Rawlings Sporting Goods Company hand out their Gold Glove Awards for defensive excellence across all Minor League organizations. The winner for center field in 2014 was none other than Arizona Diamondbacks’ prospect Breland Almadova. Between two levels of Single A ball, Almadova recorded 345 putouts and committed only two errors, good for a .995 fielding percentage. He played 89 games for the South Bend Silver Hawks and 42 games for the Visalia Rawhide.

The 23-year old Almadvoa was taken from the University of Hawaii in the 37th round of the 2012 Draft by the D’backs. He owns a .269 batting average and a .347 on-base percentage in three Minor League seasons. Almadova also has 61 career stolen bases, 35 of them coming in 2014, which was his best overall season. Last season, he scored 95 runs and had 135 hits with seven homers and 57 RBI’s.

Look for him to be starting in center field next year for the Double A Mobile BayBears.
