Arizona Diamondbacks Offseason: Important Dates To Know

The Kansas City Royals have won the 2015 World Series after defeating the New York Mets in five games.

With that the focus has officially shifted to the world of the offseason. This is where the journey to the 2016 World Series begins and ultimately where championships are won.

Here are dates in 2015 and 2016 on the MLB calendar that you need to know as we and the Arizona Diamondbacks  progress through the offseason.

2015

Nov. 5: Deadline for teams to make qualifying offers to their eligible former players who became free agents
Nov. 12: Deadline for free agents to accept qualifying offers
Nov. 9-12: GM meetings, Boca Raton, Fla.
Nov. 9: Players Choice Awards: MLB Network, 8 p.m. ET
Nov. 10: Gold Glove winners announced, 7 p.m. ET
Nov. 11: Defensive Player of Year awards announced, 6 p.m. ET
Nov. 12: Silver Slugger awards announced, 6 p.m. ET
Nov. 16: BBWAA Rookie of Year winners announced: MLB Network, 6 p.m. ET
Nov. 17: BBWAA Manager of Year winners announced: MLB Network, 6 p.m. ET
Nov. 18: BBWAA Cy Young winners announced: MLB Network, 6 p.m. ET
Nov. 19: BBWAA MVP winners announced: MLB Network, 6 p.m. ET
Dec. 2: Last day for teams to offer 2016 contracts to unsigned players on their 40-man rosters
Dec. 7-10: Winter Meetings, Nashville, Tenn.
Dec. 7: Hall of Fame pre-integration era committee (through 1946) vote announced

2016:

Jan. 12: Salary arbitration filing
Jan. 15: Salary arbitration figures exchanged
Feb. 1-21: Salary arbitration hearings
Feb. 18: Voluntary reporting date for pitchers, catchers and injured players
Feb. 23: Voluntary reporting date for other team’s other players
March 1: Mandatory reporting date
March 16: Last day to place a player on unconditional release waivers and pay 30 days termination pay instead of 45 days
March 30: Last day to request unconditional release waivers on a player without having to pay his full 2016 salary
April 3: Opening Night — Two teams to be announced
April 4: Opening Day — Twenty six teams in action
April 5: Final teams to begin season: Cubs at Angels; Tigers at Marlins
● Note: All teams must reduce their rosters to 25 active players prior to their opener.

April 15: Jackie Robinson Day
June 9-11: MLB Draft
July 10: Futures Game, San Diego
July 10: Legends and Celebrity Softball Game, San Diego (following Futures Game)
July 11: Home Run Derby, San Diego
July 12: 87th All-Star Game (on FOX), San Diego
July 15: Deadline for amateur draft picks to sign
July 24: Hall of Fame inductions, Cooperstown, NY
July 31: Last day to trade a player without securing waivers
Sept. 1: Active rosters expand to 40 players
Oct. 2: Regular season ends
Five days after World Series: Deadline for teams to make qualifying offers to their eligible former players who became free agents
12 days after World Series: Deadline for free agents to accept qualifying offers
Dec. 2: Last day for teams to offer 2017 contracts to unsigned players on their 40-man rosters
