The Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 7-1 at Salt River Fields. It was a big day for both Corbin Burnes and Corbin Carroll, as they were pivotal toward establishing a big lead early in the game and cruised to victory.
Facing his former team, Burnes fired two scoreless innings with three strikeouts. This spring, he has three scoreless innings with six strikeouts, showcasing his overpowering stuff.
Carroll reached in all three of his plate appearances, homered, and stole a pair of bases. He crushed a grand slam to cap a six-run second inning, coming off the bat at 110 MPH and landing to the right of the batter's eye in center, and stole home in the fourth. For Carroll, it was his second homer in as many games.

For the Diamondbacks, seeing their Opening Day starter and star outfielder have a game like that is an encouraging sign. They'll be counting on those two to carry a huge load for much of the 2025 season and beyond.
The Diamondbacks had more feel-good news from the game, as top prospect Jordan Lawlar homered and Drey Jameson successfully returned to the mound. Lawlar turned around a center-cut fastball from Brewers starter Tyler Alexander for a two-run shot and put Arizona on the board. After Carroll's grand slam four batters later, the Diamondbacks had a 6-0 lead before the first out of the inning.
The bullpen took that 6-0 lead and shut down the Brewers offense. While they scratched a run off Bryce Jarvis in the fourth, that was the only run Milwaukee scored in the game. John Curtiss pitched his second clean outing of the spring, recording three strikeouts over two perfect innings. Listher Sosa, Scott McGough. and Christian Montes De Oca each threw a scoreless inning to close out the game.
The Diamondbacks will travel to Goodyear to take on the Cincinnati Reds. Right-hander Brandon Pfaadt will take the bump for Arizona while right-hander Graham Ashcraft will pitch for Cincinnati. First pitch at Goodyear Ballpark is set for 1:05 P.M. MST. The game will not be broadcast over television, but the Reds will have a radio broadcast.
