With the 2nd pick in the 2022 MLB Draft, the Arizona Diamondbacks select Druw Jones!

The Arizona Diamondbacks made an absolutely amazing draft pick at #2 in the MLB Draft on Sunday by taking elite HS outfielder Druw Jones! Druw Jones is the son of former All-Star Gold Glove winning outfielder Andruw Jones of the Atlanta Braves. MLB Pipeline ranked Druw as the consensus #1 overall prospect in the draft.

Jones has 5-tool talent just like his father who hit 434 HRs in the MLB. Druw hit .445, 1.494 OPS with 16 HR and 14 steals in his senior year at Wesleyan HS in Georgia. That got him the Gatorade Player of the Year award in Georgia.

He has some growing to do in his 6'4, 180-pound frame, but that will just increase his power potential. I see him having the ability to go 40/40 in the future. He can hit and there's no doubt about it. I don't see why he won't eventually be one of the absolute best prospects in the MLB.

His fielding is probably the best in the draft while his arm is a cannon. I think he could throw out anyone at any time. His speed is an 80 grade for me where he should be able to catch anywhere in the outfield and steal any base.

Druw is committed to playing college baseball at Vanderbilt, but that's likely to be ignored. After all, he is the #2 pick and that comes with a bonus of at least 8.19 million dollars. That's a lot of reasons for the 18-year-old to skip college. He hits righty and throws right-handed.

Welcome to the Diamondbacks Druw! Couldn't be more excited to have you join the team as one of the best players and prospects already! I can't wait to see Druw join an outfield of Alek Thomas, Corbin Carroll, and Daulton Varsho! The Diamondbacks' minor league system just got insanely better.

This marks the 2nd straight high-impact prospect added to the Diamondbacks system out of the first round in the MLB Draft. He follows Jordan Lawler who was selected last year.

By the way, be sure to wish Jordan Lawler a happy 20th birthday today!

Grade of Dbacks' 1st round pick: A+! Go give Druw Jones a follow!
