The Diamondbacks and Padres complete a double header on Saturday with a nightcap in San Diego.

Yu Darvish takes the mound for the Padres as the Diamondbacks look to continue its fine stnading in the NL Wild Card race. Arizona will start rookie Bryce Jarvis, who is making his second big league start.

How should we handicap this Saturday night matchup? Here are the odds:

Diamondbacks vs. Padres prediction and pick

While Jarvis is a relative unknown, I believe that he can keep the damage to a minimum against a Padres team that has been limited all season outside of a high walk rate. San Diego has the second highest walk rate in the big leagues, but outside of that the team is below average in batting average.

If Jarvis is able to limit his walks, he should be in good shape against this Padres lineup that is 18th in OPS in the month of August.

On the other side, I expect Yu Darivsh to shut down this D-Backs offense that is hitting .226 in the month of August and 26th in OPS as a team. Darvish may have an ERA of 4.24, but he is a positive regression candidate with an xERA of 3.57.

Neither offense is in good form that I'll opt for the under in the second of two between these two Wild Card hopefuls.
