The Arizona Diamondbacks are leading the National League West.
That's not a sentence I expected to write this season, but for the time being it's true, holding a half game lead on the Los Angeles Dodgers.
They're in the middle of a three-game series with the Kansas City Royals, winning the opening matchup by a final score of 5-4. Tonight, Ryan Nelson (4.91 ERA) will take the mound for the DBacks. He'll face-off against Brady Singer (8.14 ERA) of the Royals.
Let's dive into the odds for the game and then I'll give you our best bet.
Royals vs. Diamondbacks odds, puck line, and total
Royals vs. Diamondbacks prediction and pick
No team in Major League Baseball is worse against right-handed pitchers than the Kansas City Royals. They're dead last in OPS against righties, which is important with tonight's game being a battle between two righty arms.
Brady Singer has been awful this season, allowing at least five earned runs in his last three games. That sets up well for the Diamondbacks to have a big game, especially with the Royals' offensive struggles.
Even if the Royals survive Singer's start, they'll eventually have to turn to their bullpen which has been the second worst in all of baseball. They have a bullpen ERA of 6.30, with only the Athletics ranking worse.
Give me the Diamondbacks as home favorites tonight.
