Happy Mother's Day to all the amazing moms that do such a great job raising their kids. We couldn't exist without you. I also really want to shout out and honor all the single moms who do both jobs of parenting and raising their families. They have it hard and deserve so much love.

As for the most exciting news today? The Arizona Diamondbacks are calling up #1 prospect Alek Thomas from Triple-AAA Reno Aces to make his MLB debut soon. This is huge and exciting for not just Alek but all of Dbacks nation. We knew he would get the call-up soon, but I'm surprised it's this early.

Perhaps it's this early due to Carson Kelly ending up on the 10-Day IL due to a strained oblique. This will push Daulton Varsho into catching more which means the Diamondbacks needed to get another CF-caliber player. Alek Thomas is a great centerfielder.

Thomas was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2018 MLB Draft. He's appeared on every iteration of the top-100 prospects list since before 2020 and has represented the Diamondbacks in the Future's Game in both 2019 and 2021.

Thomas has spent all season in Triple-AAA so far where he's been very impressive. Alek has hit .277/.362/.495 with 19 runs, 8 doubles, 1 triple, 4 HR, 14 RBI, 3 SBs, 13 walks, and 16 K. He mixes a patient approach at the plate with strong contact skills to avoid striking out too much. To make things better, Alek has power in all fields and knows how to take the base hit rather than push for the HR. Alek's got great speed and should be a 20/20-type player in the future. He's the youngest Dbacks player on the roster now as he only just turned 22 a couple weeks ago.

Welcome to the Diamondbacks and to the MLB Alek Thomas!! We are beyond excited to have you here!
