Just when we thought the Arizona Diamondbacks were out, they pulled us back in.
It was looking like the magical postseason run the D-Backs might come to a crashing end in the NLCS. As good as they had looked in sweeping the Brewers and Dodgers, the vibes went into the gutter against the Phillies. After the 10-0 beat down in Game 2, Arizona was in a pretty tough spot with the series heading home but ever since then the series has completely flipped around.
Rather than roll over, the Diamondbacks fought back to win two games in a row with late inning surges to even the series. Game 3 featured the teams first postseason walk-off since Luis Gonzalez won the World Series in 2001, and it seems like that was the game that injected the Diamondbacks with the energy we thought might happen after Game 1.
Arizona lost Game 1, but it was the fact that the team battled back from 5-0 that made it seem like some momentum was building. The next game was a 10-0 loss, but the way the last two games have gone suggests it was merely a delayed reaction.
Now the Diamondbacks are right back in the NLCS and have a real shot at taking the series over. We’ll get one more game at Chase Field and if things keep going they way they are the D-Backs can head back to hostile territory a win away from the World Series.

Zac Gallen is back on the mound for Arizona tonight, which could line up well for a bounce back start for the Cy Young candidate. He was lit up pretty good in Game 1, and it’s unlikely that he’s going to turn in back-to-back bad starts.
