It looked like the Arizona Diamondbacks were going to defy the odds again in Game One of the World Series. They got to Nathan Eovaldi and had a two-run lead in the ninth inning. One loss in a series isn't a huge deal in a vacuum, but it doesn't change how crummy it must feel in the Arizona clubhouse given how close they were to securing a series lead.

While the Diamondbacks just overcame a 2-0 deficit in the NLCS to take down the Phillies in seven games, they can't afford to put themselves in that position again and hope things work out. Texas' offense just reminded everyone that they are never out of a game and having Eovaldi and Montgomery at the top of their rotation makes things very tough over the course of a seven game series. If the Diamondbacks can somehow steal this game with Montgomery on the mound, they will be in a good spot heading back to Arizona.
