Diamondbacks’ Oliver Perez Gets a Surprise From His Dad

It seemed to be just a regular Friday afternoon. Arizona Diamondbacks’ pitcher Oliver Perez was getting ready to handle a Spanish language press conference before his team’s game against the San Diego Padres. Little did he know he was being treated to an early Father’s Day present.

According to Jake Rill at mlb.com, Arizona had arranged a special visit from Perez’s father, Ismael Perez Ruiz to surprise his son for Father’s Day. There is no doubt that the younger Perez was thrilled to see his dad of whom he says:
"We try to talk about everything and about life and baseball. Sometimes he tells me, ‘Why’d you throw a slider? Why didn’t you throw a fastball?’ I’m blessed."
