With a disappointing sweep in the NLDS, the Arizona Diamondbacks have been eliminated from the 2017 postseason.

If the Arizona Diamondbacks are out, who should you root for now?

No one expected the Diamondbacks to make it this far. While it’s still disappointing that we won’t get to see a rematch of the 2001 World Series,

Elimination Recaps

The postseason started with ten teams.

Both the Colorado Rockies and the Minnesota Twins were eliminated in absolutely insane Wild Card games.

More from Venom Strikes

Over on the East Coast, the Boston Red Sox had enough fight to push a Game 4 against the Houston Astros, but that’s about all they could muster. The Red Sox were officially eliminated on Monday and champagne showers rained down on the visiting team at Fenway Park.

We all know the Diamondbacks were eliminated…and let’s just not relive it okay? Moving on.

Who does that leave?

The New York Yankees lost two on the road just to take two back at home. They’ll push the Cleveland Indians to a surely intense Game 5 set for Wednesday.

The Washington Nationals and the Chicago Cubs are battling it out, in one of the more well-matched series of the postseason thus far. As the defending champs, the Cubs have a 2-1 series lead with Game 4 taking place on Tuesday in Chicago.

However, the Nationals are fighting to stay alive, yet again in the postseason. They lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLDS in 2016 (we know how you feel, Nats).

Both the Dodgers and the Houston Astros have won their respective sides of the divisional series to advance to the championship series. They are awaiting the results of the previously mentioned series.

Roundtable at Venom Strikes

Trisha Garcia (@trishaanicole) – Yankees

“I grew up a Yankees fan, so it’s a no-brainer for me. It’s been wild from the one-game against the Twins to pushing a Game 5 in Cleveland. They’re sending C.C. Sabathia to the mound and I’m a little nervous, but the offense can bring it. Judge for MVP!”

Joe Jacquez (@joejacquezaz) – Indians

“Now that the D-backs are out of the playoff picture, I am rooting for the Cleveland Indians to win it all. I wanted to pick the Washington Nationals, and I normally would root for a senior circuit team, but I want the Indians to end their World Series drought. The Indians wowed us all with a 22-game win streak and came so close last year against the Chicago Cubs. Cleveland was my preseason World Series pick and it is hard to root against Francisco Lindor’s smile and a pitcher with “Cookie” as a nickname!”

David Coffey (@CoffeySports) – Astros

“I am going for the Astros. With everything that went on with a hurricane, it would be like a Hollywood story if they won.”

Chris Lacey (@aecanada12) – Indians

“I’ve liked them since last season, as they don’t give up regardless of the situation, have a tremendous bullpen and a very smart manager in Terry Francona.”

Let us know who you’re rooting for now that the Diamondbacks have been eliminated in the comments, on Facebook or on Twitter.
