2023 Diamondbacks: 40-man roster sees two players sent to the minors
It’s that time of the year. Where young players see their MLB dreams put on the back burner for another season. These two Diamondbacks will start the year in the minors, but don’t be surprised if they get the call to the bigs this summer…
OF Jorge Barrosa
Barrosa will begin the 2023 season in triple-A Reno. This spring, Barrosa has only played in 1 game, and in his one and only AB, he walked…
Barrosa is ranked the 15th-best prospect in the Arizona farm system. Last season in 120 minor league games, Jorge hit 33 doubles, 13 HRs, 57 RBIs, scored 90 times, and slashed .278/.372/.439 for an OPS of .811. He showed glimpses of becoming an elite hitter, and he is already known for being a great outfielder who can cover a lot of ground. Barrosa is developing into a great all-around player. He spent most of his time in AA with the Sod Poodles in 2022, and looks to spend most of his time with the triple-A Aces or even the D-backs in 2023…
SS Blaze Alexander

In 10 spring training games this year, Blaze has hit 2 doubles, drove in 4 runs, and has a .631 OPS…
Like Barrosa, Alexander will start the season in Reno. Blaze is ranked #11 in the D-backs farm system; A farm system that is as deep as the ocean. Last season in 98 minor league games, Blaze hit 18 doubles, 20 HRs, 59 RBIs, and slashed .301/.389/.540 for an OPS of .929. The crazy thing is, his bat isn’t his best tool. He has a cannon of an arm and a slick glove in the field. The sky is the limit for this 23-year-old kid, and if he gets the call to the bigs this season, fans should be filled with excitement…
