When you think of power who do you think of?  Barry Bonds, Hank Aaron, Aaron Judge?  Any of these answers would be valid.  It is no secret that in the game of baseball, a batter with power is the most exciting thing to watch.  Seeing a home run in person, or a bases-clearing double when your team is down; nothing is better!  These 3 prospects might bring some of this excitement to Chase Field, the only thing is, we might have to wait a year or so…

Diamondbacks #5 prospect IF Deyvison De Los Santos has the most power in the farm system

Every single year, MLB.com comes out with its version of the top 30 prospects for each MLB team.  Out of the top 30 prospects for Arizona, De Los Santos is #5.  This kid can hit and hit with power.  In 126 games last season, Deyvison hit 29 doubles and 22 HRs.  Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, he is 19 years old.

Along with their prospect rankings, MLB.com has a grading system where they grade individual baseball skills in a player such as fielding, arm strength, and power.  The highest grade you can get in any of the categories is 80.  For the power grade, De Los Santos received a 65.  Can you imagine how much power he will possess in a couple of years?  Get excited D-backs fans…

Diamondbacks #10 prospect IF Ivan Melendez has some serious pop

Ivan Melendez, nicknamed "The Hispanic Titanic,” was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2022 MLB draft by the Diamondbacks.  This kid rakes.  In his last season with the Texas Longhorns (67 games played), Melendez hit 18 doubles and 32 HRs.  32 HRs in 67 games?!  That is almost a homer every other game, the future of the D-backs is in good hands!

Ivan got a little taste of professional baseball last season.  In 25 low-A games, he hit 3 doubles and 3 HRs.  MLB.com sees Ivan’s potential and they gave him a power grade of 60 entering this season.  Melendez is still getting his feet wet in professional baseball as he anticipates his first full season in the minors, but if he hits as he did in college, he’ll be in Reno before you can say Aces…

Diamondbacks #3 prospect OF Druw Jones could be a franchise player

I know Druw is probably tired of being compared to his dad, but his dad was a great ball player.  Druw is the son of long-time Braves outfielder Andruw Jones.  Andruw Jones hit 330 doubles, and 368 HRs in his time in Atlanta.  Hopefully, those numbers translate, and Druw can do the same in Arizona…

Jones gets a power grade of 60 entering the 2023 season.  It is likely that Jones will start the season in rookie ball, and then work his way up to at least high-A Hillsboro.  In Druw’s senior year of high school, he hit 13 HRs and 39 RBIs…
