No doubt about it, the last three days of Diamondbacks baseball have been fun.  3 wins in a row is always satisfying, but the taste of victory was even sweeter defeating the Dodgers in the way that Arizona did.  We saw clutch home runs, many, and I mean many hits, and some good work out of the bullpen and from starter Ryne Nelson.  The Diamondbacks now stand at 6-4, atop the NL West.

But the time of celebrating is over; it’s time for Arizona to focus up because this next series will be nothing close to a walk in the park.  The Milwaukee Brewers are coming to town boasting an NL-best 7-2 record.

The Brew Crew’s offense is 6th in the MLB in runs per game, and their pitching staff is 3rd in ERA.  In 3 road games this season, Milwaukee has won twice.  This 3 game set will be no easy task for the D-backs, but fortunately for them, they just got done playing their best ball of the season thus far.

Diamondbacks vs Brewers game 1 preview

Game 1 will feature a pitching matchup between Arizona’s ace Zac Gallen, and Brewers 5th starter in the rotation Wade Miley.  So far in the young season, Zac Gallen is 0-1 through 2 starts and he has given up 9 earned runs in 10.2 innings.  For Miley, this will be his second start of the 23’ season.  In his debut with the Brew Crew, he went 6 innings and allowed 0 earned runs.

In 255 plate appearances versus righties this season, Milwaukee has an OPS of .837, ranking them 4th in the league in that category.  In 119 plate appearances versus lefties this season, Arizona has an OPS of .818, ranking them 11th in the league in that category.

Who’s been hot to start the season?  For the Brewers, it’s utility man, Brian Anderson.  In 27 ABs, Anderson has hit 3 home runs, 10 RBIs, and owns an OPS of 1.227.  For the D-backs, it’s third basemen, Josh Rojas.  In 24 ABs, Rojas has hit 3 doubles, 4 RBIs, and owns an OPS of .965.  He has also recorded 3 hits in back-to-back games.
