What you need to know for Opening Day for the Diamondbacks
Opening Day is FINALLY HERE! Let's goooooo Dbacks! This is the first Opening Day at Chase Field on the first day of the season with fans since 2018 when the team beat the Rockies. This year, the Diamondbacks are facing the San Diego Padres at 6:40 PM. Gates open at 5 PM.
What to expect for the pre-game festivities prior to first pitch? There will be a Luke Air Force Base flyover during the national anthem which will be sung by Military Tech Sgt Lisa Cimino who is from the Goldwater Air National Guard Base. Meanwhile, the Honor Guard from Luke Air Force Base will present the colors.
First pitch is being thrown by a valley teacher that survived Covid and a double-lung transplant due to Covid. What an impressive miracle and how awesome it is to see a father and teacher survive that. Glad he's able to throw out the first pitch.
Madison Bumgarner is on the mound for his third Opening Day start for the Dbacks and his 8th in his career. Meanwhile, the Padres will have ace Yu Darvish on the mound. This is the third year in a row that the Dbacks are facing the Padres on Opening Day with the Padres winning the last two years.
The Dbacks and Padres will face each other for the first four games of the season Thursday through Sunday. On Sunday, kids can run the bases for free. The Dbacks have tons of new food and restaurants to visit as well. Check those out here.
Just as well are a ton of new rules that will affect MLB for this season and the future. The Dbacks are not supposed to do amazing this year as the team develops it's next wave of exciting talent, however we should still be plenty good to enjoy this year. It can't get worse than last year haha.
Don't forget to bring your clear bags, sealed water bottles, and your excitement to cheer on the Dbacks! Let's have a great season! Be sure to check Venom Strikes again for all the information you need this season!
