Tonight is the Oscars telecast live from Los Angeles. No doubt millions will be tuning in from across America, including Arizona.
We heard a lot of bunk from many people within the Arizona Diamondbacks organization over the past year. A lot of one liners, a lot of disagreements, a lot of chatter you’d usually hear from a struggling team. So they went out and made some moves to shore things up (supposedly) with the idea of making the team better to reduce all of that in 2010. So what was the best move the Dbacks made in the offseason? Vote for your favorite.

Well, at least the Arizona Diamondbacks are consistent. Consistently not very good right now. With the reminder the Dbacks are playing a lot of young guys, the fact is, after today’s 12-6 loss in Scottsdale to the San Francisco Giants, the Dbacks have now given up 31 runs in only three games. They’ve scored 14.
Today’s starter, Edwin Jackson, actually had a decent outing. He gave up two hits in two innings. Meanwhile reliever Brian Augenstein didn’t fare as well. He took the loss after giving up six runs and four hits in only an inning and two-thirds. Augenstein, for a pitcher who could be considered for the fifth spot in the starting rotation or a middle-relief spot in the bullpen, didn’t do much to help his cause.
Tomorrow may go by without another win as well. Rain is expected in the state and it could be Monday before the Dbacks see the winning side of things. We’ll see.

I know we are only two games into spring training, but already the look of the Arizona Diamondbacks is beginning to look awfully familiar.
After getting blown out 11-1 against the Colorado Rockies on Thursday, the Dbacks took to the field on Friday in Mesa against the Chicago Cubs and made a better game of it, thanks to a Justin Upton grand slam, losing 8-7.
You can’t read much of what will happen in only two games, but clearly the hitters are ahead of the pitchers right now, even though the Dbacks bats didn’t come to play on Thursday. It would be silly to make any predictions of things to come. Plenty of spring ball left. Normally you wouldn’t say the spring is any indication of the regular season. However last training camp proved to be exactly what the regular season would turn into.
The Dbacks are in Scottsdale today to play the San Francisco Giants.

No, I didn’t get a chance to play hookie and go to a game today. Maybe if I planned better, I could have gotten down to Tucson to see the Arizona Diamondbacks play the Colorado Rockies today. Next season I will plan for this game as the two teams will be sharnig a new facility up here in Scottsdale. It seems to be coming along nicely as I drive by it to and from work everyday.
For now though, enjoy your trips to Tucson. Tucson Electric Park is nice, but it will be sweet to have the Dbacks home for spring next year. The Dbacks will make their first valley visit of the spring tomorrow in Mesa against the Chicago Cubs and Saturday in Scottsdale against the San Francisco Giants.
