More from Diamondbacks News

The Dbacks will look to win their 2nd consecutive series when they take on the Chicago Cubs on Saturday night. Arizona is currently on a season long five game winning streak. The Diamondbacks will turn to their hottest starting pitcher to extend that winning streak to six. Chicago will look to remove last night’s sour taste out of their mouth.

Last night was a classic for the Arizona faithful. Friday’s game required extra innings, but it looked like it was going only going to need one more. Chicago took a 4-2 lead into the bottom of the 10th inning. With two outs, A.J. Pollock doubled to extend the game. That’t when Paul Goldschmidt stepped in and homered to tie it once again. Even a bigger story was Nick Ahmed, who had hit his 1st long ball of the season earlier in the game and then drove the game-winning run in the 13th.

Probable Pitchers

Jake Arrieta (4-4, 2.77 ERA, 55 K) vs Rubby De La Rosa (4-2, 4.08 ERA, 47 K)

Arrieta is coming off a career year back in 2014. That season he went 10-5 with a 2.53 ERA. In 2015, he’s proving that he’s no fluke. Arrieta was a victim of no run support in his last outing. He went 7 innings strong while allowing only one run and striking out seven. Unfortunately for him, he was charged for the loss against Pittsburgh. His previous outing was an 8-inning, ten strikeout victory.

De La Rosa is currently anchoring the Dbacks starting rotation. He’s won his two of his last three starts. De La Rosa went 9 full innings in his last outing. He only surrendered two runs, but had to settle for a no-decision. There were whispers that he could’ve pitched the 10th inning, if you needed an indication to how consistent he’s been recently.

Starting Lineups

First Pitch is at 7:10 MST in Phoenix.
