Dbacks @ Cardinals: Can Bradley bounce back?

There have been questions lately about whether or not the Arizona Diamondbacks brought back starter Archie Bradley too soon after an injury where he was hit with a line drive in the face.

Bradley hasn’t been as sharp as he was to start the season in his last two starts against Philadelphia, where he last just a combined seven innings in two games and gave up eight runs overall.

Monday, in the Memorial Day game and the first game of the series between the two teams, the Diamondbacks and Cardinals fought tooth and nail to extras behind stellar pitching before a Jhonny Peralta walk-off home run ended it in the bottom of the 10th inning.

The problem for the Diamondbacks in the 10th was leaving runners on base and failing to capitalize on chances. It’s imperative with Bradley struggling as of late to find his groove, that the team knocks in runs and puts as few zeroes on the scoreboard as possible.

What: Arizona Diamondbacks (21-23) at St. Louis Cardinals (29 – 26)

When: 5:15 P.M. MST

Where: Busch Stadium

Pitching Matchup: Archie Bradley (2-1 4.00 ERA) vs. Jaime García (0-1 2.57 ERA)

Weather: 79 degrees

Lineups:

It has to start with the middle of the order who has come on as of late. Paul Goldshmidt was on fire in the series against the Chicago Cubs and A.J. Pollock has been hitting and stealing almost everything as of late, which has keyed the run of success for the Diamondbacks.

Yesterday, trailing 2-0, Mark Trumbo hit a two-run home run to tie the game before the Diamondbacks ultimately fell short. If Arizona is going to keep winning, they need the middle of the order to keep producing.
